The Biggest Loser is Amazon’s Video Game Deal of the Day for 3/31/10

Today (and today only), The Biggest Loser for Wii is Amazon’s Video Game Deal of the Day. What this means is you can get it for the low price of $28.99.

Read my review of the Biggest Loser for Wii here. All in all, a decent enough game to mix things up in your Wii workout, especially for under $30.

EA Sports Active Bundle on Sale

There’s a great deal going on for the original EA Sports Active at the EA Store.

The game is currently on sale for $43.54 at the EA Store.

It comes with the original EA Sports Active game, the leg strap, and the resistance band. You can read my original review of EA Sports Active here.

You can use coupon code PAXEAST842 to reduce the price an additional $20, for a total price of $23.54.

If you’ve been on the fence about this one, and need to start exercising before Fall of 2010, you won’t find a better deal for this one. But hurry, I have the feeling this one won’t last long…

Wii Batting Practice coming soon

Fresh off its successes with Dance Dance Revolution and Walk It Out, its first foray into the exercise genre, Konami has announced another title set to release on April 27.

It’s called The Cages: Pro Style Batting Practice. It’s a baseball simulator that uses the Wii Motion Plus to simulate a batting cage. The publisher’s description seems to indicate that it’ll be a simulation of having real pitches thrown at you. It sounds like a fantastic idea for a game, and let’s keep our fingers crossed that Konami put the effort in to make it a truly realistic simulation.

Some early information on the game is available on Konami’s Web site.

As a big baseball fan and someone who forks over a little too much at the real-life batting cages sometimes, this is probably the upcoming Wii fitness game I’m looking forward to most. Stay tuned!

Goodbye Blogger, Hello WordPress

You might notice a fresh new look if you’re visiting the blog from http://www.nutwiisystem.com/blog. To make a long story short, I’ve always liked having the blog at this Web address, but Blogger said they would be unable to support it any more.

So I pulled basically an all-nighter last night to move every post, picture, and comment from the old Blogger platform to a shiny new WordPress installation. It was a ton of work, but I’m pretty sure I got everything. I’m actually excited about WordPress, as there’s a ton of stuff I can do now that I couldn’t before.

You may see some strange little hiccups here and there as a result of the migration. Hopefully I’ll be ironing those out as time progresses, but feed free to let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks for reading and for all the kind words you’ve all given me over these months. I look forward to many more Wii workouts with you. And there are definitely some good things coming :)

EA Sports Active Sequel Coming This Fall for Wii and PS3!

Update: Review of EA Sports Active 2 for the Wii now available.

EA Sports Active and EA Sports Active: More Workouts are, of course, on the top of my list of the best Wii fitness games. But EA Sports isn’t resting on its laurels, as prestigious as this honor is. :)

In Fall of 2010, EA Sports will be releasing EA Sports Active 2.0. Details are still sketchy as to what the game will include, but it looks like it’ll be a complete “reboot” of the game, including such improvements as:

  • A wireless control system, with arm and leg straps with motion sensors. For those of us who’ve been tripped up in the wires of the Wii remote and Nunchuk, this will be a welcome improvement)
  • A heart rate monitor which will monitor your heartbeat and adjust your workout accordingly.
  • A Web site to track your fitness information online, communicate with others who working out, and download new exercises.
  •  Compatibility with Playstation 3 and Wii (with other versions coming out for iPhone and iPod Touch)
We’ve still got quite a few months until launch, so I would still highly recommend getting the original EA Sports Active today. But this is definitely something to look forward to!
Here’s the text of the original press release:
